In
this section of our Ecological Guide to Pirenopolis/Corumba
is information about the history of Pirenopolis and
Corumba, villages from the time of the gold prospectors.
Both cities have beautiful churches, colonial homes,
and museums. These are well preserved colonial towns
with Portuguese architecture, ruins of the royal
roads, and cobblestone streets. Many mule trains
passed through here bound for Vila Boa, Sao Paulo or
Rio de Janeiro. Some of the old farms still have walls
of stone constructed by slaves for the miners. |
