This
section of the Ecological Guide for Pirenopolis/Corumba
contains information about areas protected by law or
Preserves in the State of Goias, of historical or ecological
significance. The most important area is the Ecological
Park of Pireneus (under the direction of the Agency
of Meio Ambiente of Goias). Situated high in the
Pireneus mountain range it contains the watersheds of
the Corumba, Parana and Prata rivers to the south and
the Tocantins river to the north. Another area protected
by the Sate is the Environmental Protection Area (APA)
of Pireneus Mountains that created a protective buffer
zone around the Ecological Park of Pireneus in the year
2000.
Here
you will also find information about private preserves
such as the Vargem
Grande, Flor das
Aguas and Vaga Fogo.
We welcome your submissions of more information regarding
these areas.
