main tourist attractions are the
Museum
of Bandeira ( circa 1776), the Fountain (O
Chafariz
circa 1778), The
Palace
of Conde dos Arcos (circa 1749) the Museum of Religious
Art (da
Boa
Morte), and the cross of Anhanguera. Also of interest
are the colonial style homes including those of the
famous poet
Cora
Coralina, and the pioneer Bartolomeu Bueno da Silva,
as well as a dozen colonial churches including
Santa
Barbara, Sao Francisco,
Areias
etc. Gaslight- lined streets lead to old plantations
surrounded by
rock
walls built by slaves.
