The
source of the Rio Uru lies near the ruins of Ouro Fino.
It then flows through Goias Velho, turning west at Serra
Dourado eventually joining the Rio Tocantins (which
eventually joins the
Araguaia
1,000 km to the north where it enters the Bico do Papagaio
on its way to Para) . Its name, Uru, comes from the
Tupi-Guarani Indian language and is the name of a small
ground bird that lives in the central-south and western
regions of Brasil.
