The source of the Lecois river is in the mountain range of Lapao in the Chapada Diamantina. Near the city of Lencois, the river forms a small waterfall known as Serrano, which is frequently visited by residents and tourists for a view of the sunset.The river receives the cities sewage and soon merges with the Sao Jose river which continues on to the lagoons and marshes of Marimbus.
