The Brumado river creates the Brumado Falls near the town of Livramento and joins the Contas River. This is the main tourist attraction in Livramento.

In 2001 local residents and environmentalists complained about illegal sewage drains dumping in the river. They want their waterfall kept pure and clean even if the have to go to court to find justice.
