You have entered our page covering lakes, lagoons and pools in the Chapada Diamantina region (Bahia). The best known is Poco Encantado (Enchanted Well), pictured on the right. This 60 meter deep pool is located inside a cavern. At certain hours of the day the sun creates beautiful blue rays in the depths. The blue color is caused by minerals in the water. You can visit the cave with an guides but the regulations of IBAMA prohibit swimming. It´s something to enjoy - and a good challenge for photographers...
